Stags Share Stories, hosted by the DiMenna-Nyselius Library and Office of Diversity & Multicultural Affairs, is an event for Fairfield University students, faculty, and staff to connect with each other to promote a culture of understanding, empathy, and appreciation of our diverse community, where deep and challenging conversations are welcomed, respected, and valued. Stags Share Stories is inspired by our prior Human Library events (held annually from 2016-2021) and our shared values as a Jesuit Catholic institution which includes a commitment to encounter and dialogue as well as journeying together into a hope-filled future.

Stags Share Stories is co-sponsored by the DiMenna-Nyselius Library and Office of Student Diversity & Multicultural Affairs.

CATALOG OF STORYTELLERS

STORYTELLERS TO TALK TO VIRTUALLY VIA ZOOM

Wed. 11/20/24, 7:00-8:00pm

I Grew Up in a Cult & I Survived

I am a successful attorney and adjunct faculty member,

but people are always very surprised to learn that I grew up in a cult in California.

Gender: Optional

As a gender fluid/nonbinary person, I would like to share a story from my life that brings to light the misunderstandings and at times the stigma that people with nontraditional gender presentations experience.

Jewsuit Educated

How attending a Jesuit institution as a student and staff member inspired me to learn more about Judaism/get more involved in the Jewish community, and the alignments I’ve noticed between Jewish and Jesuit values.

Depresh Mode: Living & Thriving with Multiple Mental Health Issues

I suffer from PTSD which manifests in depression and anxiety. To compound this, I have ADHD, which was only recently diagnosed. I want to talk about mental health, getting help, and ways to cope.

"She's a Father!" - My Life as a Woman Priest

Being a priest feels natural to me, but a woman wearing a priest's collar can seem anything but natural to people I meet. I'm ready to share my grace-filled and sometimes humorous experiences as an ordained woman.

No Chains Strong Enough to Break Me -tribute to my late father

My passion for justice in general stems from the fact that I have overcome many injustices over my lifetime. People judge my passion as hostile and aggressive at times without taking the time to understand who I am and what I am overcoming. I want to peel back the covers of my life to possibly help people take a moment to consider that other people have different perspectives due to their experiences and circumstances.
